Writing: 'Audio Access in Games'

17/02/2024

Around a year before typing up the first draft of this copy article. I found inspiration within a telivised event, Prom 21: from 8-bit to infinity a concert held by the well regarded BBC proms. In which the Royal Philharmonic orchestra peformed an 'electronically enhanced' journey through the history of video game music, into the current day.

through watching this I began to realise that over the years VGM and soundtracks in general while developming in a technical sense. had somewhat become less memorable, was this due to the market's saturation? or from outside of industry influence?

Within this article concept I propose that with the advent of accessiblity, and the genisis of music platforms, a percentage of players have little to no interest in listening to a soundtrack opposed to listening to their own music. Why this accessiblity isnt a bad thing but has adverse effects. concluding with a proposed addition to hopefully correct this minor issue within game music culture.
