Scriptwriting for
Games: 'Tithings'

07/11/2023

Scriptwriting is a skill I have been trying to engage with for a couple of years now. An opportunity arose when I was tasked with pitching, presenting and prototyping a concept for a narrative written game, with a short script draft included alongside the pitch itself.

Within this brief I was given pretty much free reign other than a few caviats; the script must have triggers, or at least formatting that allows it to intergrate with the concept's gameplay loop.

'Tithings' was produced as a result of this, a narrative game, based around the player character. A bound sprit of a local fountain. To be unbound and allowed to pass on into the next life, the player must use its postion as the spirit fountain to grant the wishers of passerby's, using a pennies as currency to grant varying levels of wishes.

With the script itself having a key focus on audio enhancement. Utilising 'Mozart Theory' which states the princaple that using different Hz (Hertz) levels can enhance specific emotions within a player. and that having these audio levels tied to a script different emotions in a player could possible be inhibited.
